The California Education and the Environment Initiative (EEI) Curriculum
New: The EEI Curriculum is now available to download at TenStrands.org/work/eei-curriculum/
The EEI Curriculum will continue to be available on CalRecycle’s password-protected SharePoint site. Here are the instructions for how to obtain access to the new EEI SharePoint site, for which you will need to have a Microsoft account (available to anyone). Contact us at eei@calrecycle.ca.gov if you need technical assistance with accessing the site.
The K-12 EEI Curriculum uses the environment as a context to help students learn science and history-social science. It is a model to demonstrate how to integrate environmental literacy into instruction. Teachers may access all of the EEI Curriculum online for free, and until the end of this school year students may access form-fillable workbooks and other materials directly from our website. Feel free to reach out to us at eei@calrecycle.ca.gov if you need support with your digital instruction and we’ll do our best to assist you.
California's Environmental Principles and Concepts (EP&Cs) in the EEI Curriculum
California's EP&Cs highlight the deep relationship between humans and the natural world and are the foundation of the environmental content taught in the model EEI Curriculum. Each EEI Curriculum unit supports at least one EP&C. In the EEI Curriculum, your students' understanding of the EP&C’s builds over the course of their academic careers, strengthening their environmental literacy. Learn more.
